REVIEW of:
 Lost Universe

End of Evangelion      It is a time of space explorations and space communities where Kane Blueriver along with his abnoxious AI companion, Canal, travel the vast reaches of space as Trouble Contractors, taking on jobs which require their "special skills". Along the way came Milly the greatest in the universe in everything. Lost Universe is a comedy-action anime which goes around the mysteries surrounding legendary Lost Ships and the Lost Civilization. The lost civilization are a race whose technology surpluses those of humans by many...many...many centuries. With their technology, they created Lost Ships, space ships with very advance technology giving them superior speed, firepower, and an AI which allows itself to project a 3D image of itself (ie. Canal). Throughout the first 10 episodes of the series, we see our main characters running into one mess after another and gradually uncovering the mysteries of the Lost Civilization, and also discovering an enemy called the Nightmare who has their own interest in the technology of the Lost Civilization.      - Maather1

Comments After watching just one episode of Lost Universe, you would already notice the many many MANY similarities that it shares with Slayers, which is a GOOD thing in my opinion. =) The three main characters interact well, and they all seem to be semi-Slayeres characters too... Canal reminds me a lot of Amelia, even though it is Lina's voice actress, Kane seems to be a Lina/Gourry hybrid (yikes!) and the voice actor of the police captain, Rail, is the same as that for Zelgadis. I personally *LOVE* Kane's obsession with his cape, and Canal's cleanliness makes her a wonderfully anal-retentive hologram. =) The plot holds great potential, and the character interaction is as good as it is in Slayers. All in all, I heartily recommend this series for any Sci-Fi fans, or for anyone who loves Slayers. If you like both, more power to you! Enjoy! I really enjoyed this series, well the first 10 episodes at least, because it has great art, humor, and really pulls you into the series. This is one of those anime which keeps you glued to the screen trying to find out what's going to happen next. Each of the main characters in this series are very unique making it fun to watch but there are places for improvements. I would recommend this series to anyone who love anime. I liked it pretty much overall. Not to forget, the opening song performed by Megumi who also plays the voice for Canal is pretty good.
