REVIEW of:
Yu Yu Hakusho
![]() |
Being dead is never easy, especially when you're one Urameshi Yuske. When he's accidently killed before his scheduled time saving a child from a speeding automobile, he's whisked off to the spirit world by one lovely specter of death! Too bad Yusuke doesn't know what he is getting into when Koenma, the lord of the spirit world's son, offers him a chance to come back to life! Becoming the newest spirit detective, he's forced to deal with more demons than any sane person would shake a stick at. - Shinma |

| Comments | This series is so funny! Although I am actually a fan of drama and shoujo, I though this anime was pretty good. I don't know how many people who share my anime preferrence would actually say this (meaning, this show is not bad!). There are cool girls in this series! The characters are all very likeable and well-developed; I didn't really dislike anybody. There wasn't a character that annoyed me. Well, Yusuke can get over his head sometimes, but he really does have redeeming qualities. Plus I get the best of both worlds--humor and drama. The animation is satisfactory. There really isn't anything confusing in this show, but there are some incomplete endings that make you want to watch the very next episode! There are some minor nitpicks. I didn't really like how long this series is (about 100 episodes, plus Yu Yu Hakusho II), and I don't have the patience to wait/collect each subsequent volume. Does Yusuke and the others r! eally have to fight? But what am I saying? This is a shounen anime! And it's really good too. | I personally liked the episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho I've seen. I haven't seen the entire series yet but from what I have seen, the series has enormous potential. Which might be the reason it ran for more than one season. -_^ The art in it's about what you'd expect from a TV series; average with the exception of fight scenes/scenes of importance. The way the charactes are devoloped are something I can relate with too. The main characters aren't well off in the least bit, I mean, Yusuke's mother is an alcoholic. It's alot more gritty than most other anime series at times, but it's still able to pull off the comedy nicely. The plot is neat, it draws you in quick and holds you there, if I weren't stuck in two other 40+ episode series, I'd be getting this entire series. The style's average, tho having some original characters, the characters have that basic animesque feeling to them. It's pretty clear throughout the series what's going on, none of the characters have any type of hidden agenda that the viewer isn't aware of. Overall the title really impressed me, while being average in most aspects, the character development and plotlines really sucked me in. I gave it an overall tecnhical rating of 6, but on an more personal scale it's definately an 8 in my book. | I absolutely love this series. Hardly a few minutes of the opening song, our not-so-heroic hero has died. Yu Yu Hakusho isn't like any anime I've ever seen. Yu Yu Hakusho isn't your typical Shoujo love story, nor is it like a Devilman/Violence Jack horror type. Rather it's a(n) mix of these two types. Unlike other animes, they don't leave the audience in the dark, rather they are open about the plot and within the first few minutes we already know who the villain is. The characters are so lovable, I don't doubt that people actually care for the characters in this series. I'd say the only problem with this series is they leave you on the cliffhangers. With each episode, you want to see what's going to happen in the next episode. |
