Japan's top idol, Shiratori Nagisa-chan, goes to school as a boy, so that her adoring fans won't mob her. Her boy-guise also helps her look for disciples for her father's dojo. Things are going vaguely according to plan, until she falls in love with Nosaka Akira, a boy from another school. Nosaka isn't thrilled to have a /boy/ following him around and fawning over him, when all Nosaka wants is that ever popular idol Nagisa-chan. When Nagisa-chan does get to meet Nosaka as a girl, it was everything she hoped for-He even proposes! He also tells her that his father need desciples for his dojo, and he's found the perfect boy-Who just happens to be Nagisa's boy disguise... Throw in the mysterious idol Momoko, who always manages to interrupt love scenes, Nosaka and Nagisa's interfering parents, and Nagisa's manager Natatake-san, and Nagisa has the odds stacked against her. I'll Make a Habit of It (a.k.a. Chou Kuseninarisou in Japan) is thirty nine half hour TV episodes long. - Taiitsukun |

| Comments | Although 70% of the people at our local anime showing got up and flat out left the room when "I'll Make a Habit of It" came on, I kinda liked it. True, it was annoyingly sappy and cute at times, but the plot was interesting enough and the characters weren't painful to watch (annoying, yes, but painful, no). As Taiitskun mentioned, the first few episodes are somewhat lacking... in my personal opinion, though, it doesn't really pick up as much as Taiitsukun makes it sound (gomenasai, Taiitsukun!) =) Still, it isn't a bad one to watch, if you can stand all the cuteness. I must admit that as much as I hated Nagisa's "theme" song, the more I heard it the more catchy it became. And while the plot is nothing new, it is still fun to watch Nagisa get into (and usually out of) so many problems. Catch a couple episodes, and if you don't like it, don't watch it. If you do like it, congrats! | While the animation is nothing to be proud of, and the plot isn't startlingly original (At least, in the beginning), I consider this a pretty good anime. But, this title is shoujo. Extremely shoujo. The romance almost drips with sweetness (At least, until Momoko reenacts a military invasion, or famous musical in the middle of everything), and the cast of characters drips with cuteness (Take Kumakichi for example... What word is there for a giant cuddly blue bear than cute?), but once you get past that, the show is quite good. The first few episodes are pretty standard (Well, for anime at least), but the deeper you get into the series, the more unique it becomes. This show takes pride in making most things a melodrama, and when it's not taking things too far, it's dealing with serious issues. In one of the more pointed episodes, Nagisa is pressured to do a nude photo shoot to keep her in the number one idol spot, and agrees. The show swings wildly back and forth between episodes that make you think, and episodes that leave you dazed (Singing alligators in the sewers of Tokyo?). While not an anime for everyone, I recommend giving this show a shot or two... If the first few episodes don't impress you, give a later volume a shot... It does get better. | |
