In a parallel universe filled with witches & magicians the heir to the throne is given a task. She must create and test her own magical device. Therefore, Princess Erika decides to create a ribbon that allows the bearer to transform into anyone on Earth. She decides to give it to her double on Earth. That is the 13-year-old tomboy, Nonohara Himeko, better known as Hime-chan. With the help of her talking plush lion, Pokota, Hime-chan must use the ribbon wisely. She must make sure that nobody figures out her little secret during this one year full of new and exciting adventures. This show is based on the manga written by Mizusawa Megumi. | Comments | When I saw the first episode of this series, I was a bit skeptical about its content. I decided to buy a couple volumes thinking it was going to be some silly shoujo anime. I hate to say this, but I actually began to like this magical girl series. The characters in this series are so funny, you can't help but like all of them. Some of the episodes have extremely funny moments and I was even tempted to re-watch some of them. Though there are some serious moments which are a bit touching (though it would never bring a tear to my eye). Unlike most magical girl anime where there are good guys and bad guys, Hime-Chan's Ribbon doesn't follow that style. Basically everybody is good (or normal at least). The plot is very easy to follow; I'm guessing this show was made for the younger audience. I would have loved to give this series a higher grade, but I wasn't sure how many people would actually like it. I totally recommend this series if you love sweet and funny shoujo anime. Even if magical girls isn't your type, go ahead and try it. You might be surprised (I was)! | ||
